My advice on... Pre-Gold

To start off... the silver award is thought of as a pre-gold  award and it's something I would suggest getting, But if you're like me and didn't/couldn't get it. My advice is DON'T give up you can/will get the gold award.

Next don't jump in head first, print off the guidelines and go through them as if you about to get "screwed" over in some big business deal. Meaning PAY ATTENTION to detail, go over everything... don't let anything escape you, this is very important.

Third have your project in mind. Know exactly what you want to do for the world/organization/or group.

Lastly Be Flexible.
